He is survived by: his brothers-in-law, Johnny and Curtis Smith; his grandson Mason; his children, Susan Carter Canady (Michael Canady) and John Adam Carter (Kristen Walker Carter); his grandchildren, John Mason Canady, Caroline Elizabeth Canady, Mary Claire Canady, Olivia May Carter, John Tildon Carter and Mary Ellen Carter; and his caregivers, Johnny, Sharon, Ivy Ford and Linda Thompson.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 30th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 3:45 PM at the Lebanon Baptist Church (3329 Beard Rd, Fayetteville, NC 28312). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 30th 2026 at 4:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Lebanon Baptist Church Capital Improvement Fund.
