He was predeceased by: his parent John W. Smith, Sr. (Fanny Hutchinson Smith); his siblings, Ben Smith and Gwen Surratt; and his stepchildren, Jeff Thaggard and Debbie Canupp.
He is survived by: his wife Joy Nette Smith; his children, Jeff Smith (Lisa) and Heather Jones; and his stepchildren, Tracy Thaggard (Toni), Kim Chavis (Larry) and Jeanie Abner. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and cherished friends.
