She was predeceased by: her parents, Barney Scalf and Mary Agnes Scalf; and her brother Ronnie Scalf. She is survived by: her husband Jerry Franklin McDonald; her children, Jerri Lynn Traflet, Jerald Franklin "Frank" McDonald, Jr. (Kathy), Susan Carpenter (Matthew) and Diane Pruett (Paul); her grandchildren, Taylor McDonald, Mary Catherine Pruett, Jared McDonald and Meredith Traflet; and her sisters, Carol Hessenflow and Nena Morton.

Visitation was held on Sunday, October 19th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Layton Chapel Baptist Church (1230 Anderson Creek School Rd, Spring Lake, NC 28390). A funeral service was held on Sunday, October 19th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Sunday, October 19th 2025 at 3:45 PM at the same location.
