She was predeceased by: her parents, Charles Thomas Sutton and Eleana Ellis Sutton Spence; and her husband William Earl "Bill" Smith. She is survived by: her children, Karen Smith Knowles (Michael) and Michael David Smith (Sandy) of Fayetteville; her grandchildren, Dr. Russell Emmett Davenport III (Sasha Sabir Davenport) of Charlotte, Laura Alison Davenport Bass (Sam Quincy Bass III) of Raleigh, Charlotte Winifred Davenport Adler (Benjamin Alan Adler) of Raleigh and William Brent Smith of Fayetteville; and her great grandchildren, Alexander Suleiman Davenport, Emmett Shafi Davenport of Charlotte and Wes Emmett Adler of Raleigh.
