We are sad to announce that on April 3, 2025, at the age of 66, Richard Preston Thornton Jr. of Fayetteville, North Carolina, born in Rocky Mount, North Carolina passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Preston Thornton Sr. and Mary John Dunn Thornton of Newton Grove, N. C.; his father-in-law Ron Overaker of Hillsborough; and his nephew Brandon Overaker of Hillsborough. He is survived by: his wife Cynthia Overaker Thornton; his children, Rossi Thornton (Jenna), Caleb Thornton (Megan) and Ashley Thornton; his grandchildren, Kinleigh Thornton, Walker Thornton and Camden Thornton; his sister Lynn Thornton Lilley (Don); and his brother-in-law Dean Overaker (Emily). He is also survived by nephews, nieces, aunts, cousins, special friends and co-workers.
