He was predeceased by: his parents, Carrie Hamlet, and Stephen Benjamin Hamlet, Sr.; his brother Stephen Benjamin Hamlet, Jr.; and his niece Elizabeth Joanne Leonard. He is survived by: his wife Mary Helen Hamlet; his daughter Martha Hamlet Hipp (Junius "Budd" Hipp, Jr.); his sister-in-law Joanne Cox Hamlet; his grandchildren, William Gray Hipp, John Stephen Hipp (Abigail) and Mary Jeanne Hipp; and his sibling's children, Mary Lisa Rodgers and Stephen Benjamin Hamlet, III.
