She was predeceased by: her parents, Nelson Watkins Newton and Sallie Lerlene Lee Newton; her husband Joseph W. Rush; and her brother James Carr Newton. She is survived by: her children, Laura Beasley (Eugene) of Angier, Amanda Russell (Dave) of Kerrville, TX and Joseph William Rush, III of Berlin, Germany; her grandchildren, Natascha Rush, Jennifer Rush and Joshua Russell; her sister Dianne Newton Jernigan of Dunn; and her friends, Chris McCullen, Beth, Gary Beard, James, Megan Biggs and Janet Jordan. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 7th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 2:50 PM and on Sunday, December 14th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 2:50 PM at the Cokesbury Methodist Church (7536 Clinton Rd, Stedman, NC 28391). A funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 7th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Monday, December 15th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery (400 Murchison Rd, Fayetteville, NC 28307).
