He was predeceased by: his parents, George Junior Rivers and Elizabeth Marie Jones of Hendersonville, NC.; his sister Susan "Susie" J. Rivers; his nephew Wayne Stepp; his father-in-law John W. Collins; his brother-in-law Bruce W. Glover; and his mother-in-law Nancy J. Collins.
He is survived by: his wife Nancy Annette Rivers of Flat Rock, NC; his son Christopher Michael Merrell of Hendersonville, NC; his sister Dianna "Dy" Stepp of Hendersonville, NC; his grandson Tanner Merrell of Hendersonville, NC; and his brothers-in-law, Terry Collins (Laura) of Flat Rock, NC and Tim Collins (Tennile) of Hendersonville, NC.
