He was predeceased by: his parents, James Seay and Lavada Lowery Seay; and his brother Joseph "Boney" James Seay. He is survived by: his wife Roberta Seay; his children, Lesley Watson (Spencer) of Rutherfordton and Kevin Seay (Vicki) of Texas; his sister Trina Greene (Max) of Caroleen; his grandchildren, Danielle Thompson (Matt), Kyle Watson (Taylor) and Michelle Seay (Olivia); and his great grandchildren, Selah Watson and Sadie Watson.
