She was predeceased by: her father Walt Lavender; her husband Chivous "Monty" Godfrey; and her brother J. B. Cartee. She is survived by: her daughters, Angela Pittman of Ellenboro, Carla Thompson of Kentucky and Barbara Branch (Scott) of Mooresboro; her siblings, Margaret Clark of Forest City, Betty Henderson (Harvey) of Henrietta, Ruby Thrift (Gary) of Gilkey and Garland Lavender (Susan) of Alabama; and her grandchildren, Bobby Thompson, Deana Short, Chris Pittman, Lisa Brownfield, Ginger Lawter, Christy Oliver and Angel Wilhide. She is also survived by thirteen great-grandchildren.
