She was predeceased by: her parents, Hugh Brooks and Dorothy Barron; her former husband Gilbert Gonzales; her stepmother Sarah Brooks; her son Eddie Gonzales; and her siblings, Steve Brooks and Gail Giroux.

She is survived by: her husband Ray Monteith; her children, Jennifer Hodge (Curtis) of Forest City, Wayne Brooks (Charlotte) of Myrtle Beach, SC, Ronald Gonzales of Forest City, Rodney Deal of Spindale and J. B. Franklin of Forest City; her siblings, Cheryl Bryant of Ellenboro and William "Bill" Brooks (Phyllis) of Lake Placid, Florida; her grandchildren, Katrina Michael, Renee Hodge, Terri Brooks, Amber Brooks, Tony Brooks and Rodney Deal III; and her great grandchildren, Kapyn Brooks, Xayn Daniels, Eli Cortez and Jade Hodge.
