He was predeceased by: his father Joe Bud Newton; and his wife Kay Eitel Newton. He is survived by: his mother Madge Hill Newton of Forest City; his son Casey Newton (Amy) of Bostic; his brother Roger Newton (Portia) of Rutherfordton; his sister-in-law Hope King-Jenkins of Forest City; and his grandchildren, Caleb Newton, Mark, Jacob, Austin, Lillian, Bella and Xander.
