He was predeceased by: his parents, Nellie Dunn and George M. Thornton; his wife Angela McCullen Thornton; his granddaughter Kinsley Rae Thornton; and his siblings, Marshall Thornton, Georgia Carol Thornton and Dwen T. Hudson.
He is survived by: his sons, Marshall, Logan (Ashley) of Four Oaks, Donavann (Jamie) and Walker of Newton Grove; his granddaughters, Dixie Rose, Anna Kate, Becca James and Reece Elizabeth; his siblings, Linda Drummond (Billy), Jennifer Baggett (Glenn), Keith Thornton (Lark), Morris Blackman and Diana Blackman; and his siblings-in-law, Jimmy, Linda McCullen and Jamie M. Dunn (Dewayne) of Newton Grove. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
