She was predeceased by: her parents, Jonah Johnson and Mary Edith Hargis Johnson; her husband Thomas Edward "Tom" Benson; her son Smitty Edward Benson; and her siblings, Curtis Johnson, Keith Johnson, Mabel Massengill, Joel Johnson, Carl Johnson and Lyndon Johnson.
She is survived by: her children, Jan Benson Rhodes (Jervis), Joy Benson Canaday (Jonathan) and Jill Benson Norris (Keven); her daughter-in-law Stephanie Benson; her grandchildren, Brittany Benson, Hunter Benson (Leanna), Cody Norris (Caroline), Colton Norris, Abby Rhodes, Nathan Canaday (Savannah), Addison Canaday and Jennifer Norris; her great grandchildren, Ava, Houstin Bryant and Clay Norris; and her sisters, Brenda Atkins and Teresa Adams (Greg). She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 12th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 3:45 PM at the Rose & Graham Funeral Home (5820 US-301, Four Oaks, NC 27524). A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 12th 2026 at 4:00 PM at the Rose & Graham Funeral Home Inc. (5820 U. S. Hwy 301 S, Four Oaks, NC 27524).
