He was predeceased by: his parents, Willie Thomas and Vernie Moore Blackmon; and his brothers, Willie Irvin Blackmon and Billy Bruce Blackmon. He is survived by: his wife Grace Jones Blackmon; his daughters, Donna Marie Blackmon Stephenson (Kenneth Stephenson) and Lorie Grace Blackmon (Greg Evans); and his grandchildren, Kenneth Preston Stephenson Jr. (Melissa Stephenson), Johnathan Ashley Stephenson (Erin Stephenson), Kyle Edwards Stephenson (Blair Stephenson), Brittany Grace Evans Jackson (Chris Jackson) and Caroline Lee Evans.

The family welcomes plants and donations to the charity the individual elects in memory of Mr. Melvin Earl Blackmon.
