Roger leaves behind cherished memories for friends, family, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Roger’s life was marked by connections and experiences that touched those around him. He was predeceased by: his parents, Nathan Fitzhugh "Fitz" Costner, Sr. and Hazel Abigail Hefner Costner; and his brother N. F. "Butch" Costner, Jr. (Roger). He is survived by: his wife Diane Grigg Costner; his children, Keith Costner (Kim) of Shelby and Kim Earl (Mike) of Fallston; his sister Nancy Harper of Archdale; and his grandchildren, Logan Keith Costner and Lexi Karoline Costner.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 7th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Union Baptist Church (3800 Polkville Rd, Shelby, NC 28150).
