He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Prioleau Shope and Queenie Elizabeth Ledford Shope; and his sister Betty Marie Shope Dalton. He is survived by: his wife Kate Almond Shope; his children, Selena Shope of Fort Mill, SC, Gina Shope of Franklin, NC and Samuel Shope (Shelly) of Fort Mill, SC; his grandchildren, Elijah, Avery, Riley and Levi Shope; and his siblings, Thelma Shope Cochran of Suwanee, GA, Don Shope (Cleta) of Hixon, TN and Wayne Shope (Judy) of Franklin, NC. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 17th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at the Macon Funeral Home (261 Iotla St, Franklin, NC 28734). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 17th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Watauga Church Cemetery Fund.
