He is survived by: his wife Mildred Swafford; his daughters, Carolyn Cope (Kevin) and Dana Gatley (James); his grandchildren, Leah McConnell (Jeff), Philip Cope (Becca), Derrick Cope (Rebecca), Ivy Averette (Ethan), Emma Jones and Lily Jones; his great grandchildren, Khloe McConnell, Ezra Cope, Brady Averette, Hadleigh Averette and Anna Kate Averette; and his sister Martha Odom.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 24th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Mt. Sinai Assembly of God (328 Wilds Cove Rd, Franklin, NC 28734). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 24th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Saturday, October 24th 2026 at the Roper Cemetery (5371 Upper Burningtown Rd, Franklin, NC 28734).
