Diane Marie Medina Obituary
Diane Marie Medina was born on July 14, 1971, in Warren County, NC, to Edward and Sherry Dickens. At the age of 55, Diane passed away peacefully in Franklin County, surrounded by the love, hands, and voices of her family-exactly the way she deserved.
For the past several years, Diane fought cancer with a cancer with courage that inspired everyone who walked beside her. She faced every challenge with strength, perseverance, and a spirit that refused to dim. On August 26, 2026 her battle came to an end, and she found the peace that she had earned, wrapped in love of those who cherished her the most.
Diane lived life boldly, fully, and unapologetically on her own terms. Many knew her from her years on the road, others from her unforgettable personality, and many from her time at 5 Points Store, where she became a familiar and beloved face in the community. She created memories everywhere she went-memories that now live on in the hearts of everyone fortunate enough to have known her. She experienced life fully, made countless memories along the way, and was able to fulfill many of the wishes that she held close to her heart.
Diane was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Sherry Dickens; her sister, Nancy Dickens and her brother, Edward Henry "Hoss" Dickens' . Her family finds comfort in believing that Diane is now reunited with loved ones who went before her, embraced once again by people that she missed so deeply.
Diane leaves behind a legacy carried proudly by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild, each one a living piece of her heart. She is survived by, her daughter, Vicky Argueta and Vicky's children, Leslie Mendoza, her great-grandchild, Mateo Mendoza, Valeriana Mendoza, Yonis Argueta Guevara Jr., Yiana Argueta Guevara, and Karim Izahir Valencia Mejia; daughter, Adriana Valencia and her husband, Rolando Perez, and their children, Lina Perez, Yari Perez, Rosie Perez and Rolando Pere Jr.; daughter, Patrisia Rivera and her children, Selena Mia Rivera and Angel Lorand Rivera; son, Junior Rivera and his wife, Anahi Gonzalez and their children; daughter, Maria Valencia and her children, Arianna Valencia and Legend Valencia; her siblings, Carolyn Dickens, Maryann Yates, Edward Earl Dickens, Joseph Edward, Barbara Byrum, Paul Dickens and his wife Roxanne Dickens, Betty Rera, Sherry Ann Avila and her husband Joseph Avila, Sherry Contento and her husband Jason Contento and Eddie Jr. "Bo" Dickens.
Diane will be remembered as a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and familiar face whose presence touched countless lives. Every person who knew her carries a different story, a different laugh, a different moment shared with her, and those memories will continue to live on long after her passing. Though saying goodbye is never easy, the family hopes everyone finds comfort in knowing that Diane is no longer fighting, that she was surrounded by love in her final moments, and that she lived her life in a way that was uniquely her own. May Diane Marie Dickens rest peacefully, reunited with those she loved, and may her memory continue to shine through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchild, family, friends, and everyone blessed enough to have known her.
Family will receive friends and visitors on Friday, September 4, 2026 from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Lancaster Funeral and Cremation Services, 804 N Bickett Blvd, Louisburg, NC. Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 pm in the Chapel.
