He was predeceased by: his parents, John Boyd Long Sr. and Helen Gribble Long; his wife Judy Chastain Long; his sister Joann Long Gregg; and his siblings-in-law, Grady Gregg, Gene Brown and Nancy Long.
He is survived by: his daughter Donna Long Lipscomb (Gerald) of Forest City; his grandchildren, Alisa Phifer, Jordan Phifer and Gerald Lipscomb (Anna); his great grandchildren, Emerson and Jackson; his grandson Patrick Lipscomb; his daughter Pamela Long Skinner (Scott) of Boiling Springs, NC; his grandchildren, Joshua Skinner (Chelsey) and Lindsay Skinner; his daughter Caroline Long Ruch (Ben) of Oak Ridge, NC; his grandchildren, Holden Ruch and Alexandra Ruch; his siblings, Charles Long, Dennis Long, Donald Long and Evelyn Huscusson; and also, Aleck Lipscomb, Oliver and Ruby Cate Skinner. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
