He was predeceased by : his parents, Hunter Young and Lucille Shook Young; and his brothers, Gary and Bruce Young. He is survived by : his children, Robert Young (Sheryl) of Franklin and Misty Roscoe of South Carolina; and his siblings, Betty Ann Young of Franklin, Charles "Chuck" Young of Franklin and Gene Young (Sheila) of Franklin. He is also survived by three grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life was held on Sunday, April 28th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the American Legion Post 108 (614 W Main St, Franklin, NC 28734).
