He was predeceased by: his parents, Gilford Matthews and Betty Morgan Matthews Vaughn; and his brother Randy Matthews. He is survived by: his children, Jacob Allen Matthews, Kara Matthews McGhee (Patrick) and Kristan Matthews Strickland; his sisters, Rebecca, Karen, Denise and Lori; and his grandchildren, Trinity McGhee, Brody McGhee and Haylee Strickland.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 25th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Cornerstone Funeral Home.
