He was predeceased by: his wife Norma Teague Smith; his parents, Clyde Joseph and Bessie Pugh Smith; and his siblings, Sarah Maness, Marie Beane, Ollie Belle Underwood, J. C. Smith and Lloyd Smith.
He is survived by: his children, Annette Kidd (Ronald) of Ramseur, Angela Jones (Robert) of Oak Ridge and Alan Bruce Smith (Lisa) of Franklinville; his siblings, Betty Sue Hyler of Asheboro and Thomas Eugene Smith (Uretha) of Asheboro; his grandchildren, Alison Smith Humphreys (Andrew), Michael Alan Smith (Della) and Phillip Kidd (Pebbles); his great grandchildren, Dylan Kidd, Katlin Kidd, Chloe Smith, Layla Smith, Brody Smith, Audrey Humphreys, Avery Humphreys and Henley Smith; and his sisters-in-law, Barbara Smith of Franklinville and Katie Teague of Coleridge.
