It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Michael Dorman of Fuquay Varina, North Carolina, who passed away on December 28, 2021, at the age of 61, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Jillian; his children, Cooper, Madalynn of Fuquay Varina, NC and Jarrod Pike (Lindsey); his grandchildren, Dillon and Jalin of Melbourne, FL; his mother Shelby Fisher of Fuquay Varina, NC; his uncle James W. Prevatte of Fairmont, NC; his brother Jim Abernathy; his children, Seth and Caroline; his sister Jen Michaelson (Marc); and his nephews, Nate and Nolan of Cincinnati, OH..

While Mike was in the hospital fighting COVID, he was selected for the National Daughters of the American Revolution Medal of Honor.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to Military Missions in Action in Mike's memory, so that we can continue the work that was so important to him.

“We had the honor of working with Mike when he first started MMIA. Our American Legion Post in Angier supported MMIA financially the first couple of years and participated in his golf tournament. . I spoke with Mike frequently and always enjoyed his views on life and dedication to veterans.. I, along with countless veterans, will morn his passing. As an old friend of mine would say "He was one of the good uns". That is really all that needs to be said. Good by Mike, we will miss you.”
