It is always difficult saying goodbye to someone we love and cherish. Family and friends must say goodbye to their beloved Richard Thomas Johnson (Fuquay Varina, North Carolina), who passed away at the age of 76, on February 22, 2022. He was predeceased by: his parents, Gustave Wendell and Ruth Victoria Johnson (Carlson); and his brother Wayne Lee Johnson (Colleen Smith). He is survived by: his wife Nancy Johnson (Stone); his children, Meredith Garrett (Chad), Alicia Maynard (Daniel), Christopher (Heather) and Mark (Kristin); and his grandchildren, Payton, Elijah, Parker, Ethan, Makenna, Benjamin, Ashlynn, Jeremiah and Ian.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the Cary Alliance Church youth LIFE trip or contributions may be sent in his memory to the NCVVI Scholarship Fund care of Bonnie Kuhr, 7316 Ray Rd Raleigh, NC 27613.

“I offer my sincerest condolences to the family. I worked with Richard for many years as he was one of our external auditors of Verizon. Always exceeding friendly, quick-witted, and exceptionally professional and knowledgeable, Richard’s absence will be sorely missed. Richard used to say that there was only one “true” branch of the military….USMC. Being an Army Ranger, we had many light-hearted and spirited good-natured ribbings towards each other. I am going to miss him. Semper Fi!”
