He was predeceased by: his parents, Phiffer Avery Houck and Alma McCall Houck; his wife Reba Cardwell Houck; his grandchildren, Shane Hartley and Tracy Carver; his children-in-law, Pamela Houck and David Hartley; and his siblings, Eugene Houck, Gerald Houck, Willie May Houck and Thelma Fountain.

He is survived by: his children, Ronald Houck, Rev. Randy Houck (Wendy), Rebecca "Becky" Hartley, Joyce Fleming (Steve) and Melvia Carver; his grandchildren, Juanita Pilkenton (Darian) of Granite Falls, Larae Shell of Hudson, Corey Houck (Dawn) of Collettsville, Leslie H. Chester (John) of Granite Falls, Holly Hartley of Kings Creek, Heidi Wilcox (Lenoir), Angela Fleming Crow (Kala) of Easley, SC, Derek Fleming (Chasity) of Lincolnton, Dusty Fleming (Jessica) of Simpsonville, SC, Autumn Carver of Lenoir, Christopher Houck (Ashley) of Granite Falls, Casey Fleeman (John) of Lenoir, Zayden Houck of Granite Falls and Zaylie Houck of Granite Falls; his sister Mary Loudermelt; and his pet Dolly. He is also survived by 29 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren.
