He was predeceased by: his parents, William Lester McPhail and Norma Pope McPhail; and his brothers, William L. McPhail, Jr., Kenneth M. McPhail and Thomas E. McPhail.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Drew McPhail; his children, Karen M. Jones of Asheville, NC and James David McPhail, Jr. (Hilton); and his granddaughters, Katherine Jones and Rebecca Jones.
A funeral service was held on Saturday, May 17th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Carter Funeral Home (111 N Ingold Ave, Garland, NC 28441).
