She was predeceased by: her parents, Octavious Kenneth Ellen (O. K.) and Frances Saunders Ellen; and her husband James "Jim" Brooks Jr.. She is survived by: her son Danny; her daughter-in-law Kathy; her children, David and Julie Hodge; her son-in-law Jason; and her grandchildren, Emily and Brooks.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, an organization close to Barbara's heart.
