She was predeceased by: her parents, Thomas Byard Mercer and Iva Worrell; her husband James Merrill Tew; and her siblings, Isadore Baker, Helen Ruth Page, Ruby Thorpe, Bill and Roney Mercer.
She is survived by: her sons, Thomas Tew (Amy), David Tew (Donna), Chris Tew (Tiffany) and Brian Tew (Julie); her sisters, Louise Roberts and Linda Lamm; her grandchildren, Ryan, Hunter, Gavin, Grayson, Matthew, Ethan and Austin Tew; and her great grandchildren, Braylon and Jude Tew.
Visitation was held on Thursday, October 30th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Bryan-Lee Funeral Home- Garner (1200 Benson Rd, Garner, NC 27529). A funeral service was held on Friday, October 31st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the St. Mary's Grove Original Free Will Baptist Church (7970 Raleigh Rd, Benson, NC 27504). A committal service was held on Friday, October 31st 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Robert's Grove Original Free Will Baptist Church (725 Roberts Grove Rd, Dunn, NC 28334). A burial was held on Friday, October 31st 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to your preferred hospice organization for the blessed work they do for the families they serve.
