He was predeceased by: his parents, Vann Robert Slayton and Martha Ellen Carmichael; his siblings, Nelson Lee Slayton, James Edward Slayton, Vann Walter Slayton and Reba Wade; and his son Robert Tyler Slayton.
He is survived by: his wife Paulette Slayton; his daughters, Sandy Burns, Stephanie Britt Shepherd (John) and Valerie Britt Clinard (Kris); and his grandchildren, Tyler Butts, El Clinard and Ethan Shepherd.
