He was predeceased by: his parents, Bryte Whiteside Barger and Coy Lawrence Barger; his former wife Inez Williams Deal Barger; his siblings, Ken Lawrence Barger, Daniel W. "Danny" Barger and Sue Barger Truckley; his former wife Ellen Williams Barger Jordan; and his stepson Scott Cash.
He is survived by: his wife Nancy Proctor Cash; his sons, Bobby J. Barger (Joey) and Robin of Dallas, NC; his stepdaughter Sandra D. Whitmire (J. D.) of Pawleys Island, SC; his grandchildren, Chris Barger (Jacquelyne) of Lincolnton and Dr. Stefanie Whitmire of Asheville, NC; his great grandchildren, Annabel Barger and Scarlett Vanbloom; and his nieces and nephews, Yuvonne Jones, Debbie Wall, Daniel, Nelson, Adrian and Ronald Barger.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 29th 2026 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM at the Benson Funeral & Cremation Services (101 Oak Grove St, Mt Holly, NC 28120). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 29th 2026 at 1:30 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Thursday, October 29th 2026 from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM at the Forest Lawn West Cemetery (4601 Freedom Dr, Charlotte, NC 28208).
