With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Dexter Allton Boyd of Gaston, North Carolina, born in Jayess, Mississippi, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on February 1, 2026 at the age of 96. He was predeceased by: his parents, Sammie Boyd and Maude Boyd; and his siblings, Sammie Edrie Boyd, Luola Craft, Oneida Alexander, Norene Roberts and Hulene Etheridge.
He is survived by: his wife Lois Marie Henley Boyd; his children, Dexter Allton Boyd Jr. (Minnie) and Tracy Lynn Boyd; his granddaughter Tammy Renee Boyd Brackin (Adam); his great grandchildren, Madelyn Ellen Brackin and Adam William Brackin Jr.; his sister Dorthy Shaw; and his close friends, Phillip Moncure, Robert Beard, Donell Hansome, Jesse, Sara Patton and Emily Patton. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
