He was predeceased by: his son Michael Keith Owenby; his parents, Harley Owenby Sr. and Christine Owenby; and his siblings, Allen Owenby, Harley Owenby Jr., Geneva Auten, Betty Parker and Genevieve Owenby.

He is survived by: his wife Sandra Curtis Owenby; his children, Kevin Owenby (Audrey) of Gastonia and Kristi Evans of Gastonia; his grandchildren, Boone Owenby (Megan), Kasey Owenby, Kaden Miller, Rylan Evans, Aaron Owenby and Karsyn Evans; and his siblings, Garland Owenby, Lois Montenegro and Ruth Robinson. He is also survived by many extended family members and close friends.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 22nd 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the United Baptist Church (1970 Lowell Bethesda Rd, Gastonia, NC 28056). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 22nd 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
