He was predeceased by: his father C. B. Peterson; his daughter Jennifer Peterson; his nephew Clint Fort; and his stepfather Collis Kirby. He is survived by: his mother Betty Peterson Kirby of Gaffney, SC; his wife Sherry Curtis Peterson; his daughter Leah Peterson Stewart (Joseph) of Gastonia; his sisters, Susan Howard (Mike) of Gaffney, SC and Ann Gordon (Tim) of Blacksburg, SC; his grandchildren, Steven Stone, Thomas Stewart and Makenna Griggs; his siblings-in-law, Kim Eaker (Roger) of Gaffney, SC and John Curtis of Blacksburg, SC; and his nieces and nephews, Nick Fort (Rachel), Aaron Dillon (Lauren), Travis Gordon (Ashlee), Kirby Velazquez (Hector) and Katie Dover (Mike).
