She was predeceased by: her parents, Daniel Fulton Whisonant and Emma Laurice Westbrook Whisonant; her husband Lamar Neal Gaston; and her sister Joy Whisonant Sparrow. She is survived by: her children, Nancy Wingo (Bill Wingo, III) of Greenville, SC and Lamar Neal Gaston, Jr. (Connie) of Monroe, NC; her grandchildren, Brad Wingo (Kayla) of Simpsonville, SC, Gaston Wingo of Charleston, SC, Scott Wingo of New York, Meg Gaston Peters (Luke) of Winston Salem, NC and Grady Lee Gaston of Northfield, MN; and her great grandchildren, William Bennett Wingo, Berkeley Ann Wingo and Blake Charles Wingo.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 23rd 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Union Presbyterian Church (5615 Union Rd, Gastonia, NC 28056). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 23rd 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
