He was predeceased by: his parents, John Marion Terry and Nannie Kate Stacy Terry; and his siblings, Leon M. Terry, Sr. and Linda A. McGinnis. He is survived by: his wife Virginia Gann Terry; his children, R. Scott Terry (Lisa), Rev. E. Todd Terry, Debra A. Terry, Johnny C. Terry, Jr. (Jamie) and W. Derek Terry (Melissa); his grandchildren, Katie Moose, Mikaela Martel (Norbert), Ayla Terry, Evan Terry and Poppy Terry; and his siblings, Robert S. Terry, Sr. (Phyllis), Joerine Millen and Loretta T. Horne. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 13th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at the Fraley Memorial Baptist Church (3025 Fraley Church Rd, Gastonia, NC 28054). A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, October 13th 2026 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Tuesday, October 13th 2026 at the Gaston Memorial Park (1200 S New Hope Rd, Gastonia, NC 28054).
