He was predeceased by: his parents, J. W. Russell and Pauline Smith Russell; his wife Carolyn Raxter Russell; his daughter Connie Lynn Russell; and his brother J. Dennis Russell.
He is survived by: his siblings, Tom Russell and Carol Russell Keenum; his nephew Jerry Russell; and his nieces, Robyn Miller, Ronda Freeman, Kim Hughes, Kelly Nichols, Rhonda Phipps, Carla Fortenberry, Tammy Waters and Lisa Hoover.
He was a compassionate supporter of charitable causes, generously donating to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, the Diabetes Foundation, and the Shriners Hospital for Children.
