He was predeceased by: his parents, Blenda Huneycutt Gault and Robert "Buck" Gault. He is survived by: his children, Caitlin Gault Jowers (Michael), Samuel Robert Gault and Chloe Gault Wright (Wesley); the mother of his children Bonnie Tadlock Johns (Jimi); and his sisters, Amy Propst (Greg), Flora Towery (Joe) and Cathy Gault (Anthony). He is also survived by three grandchildren.

A funeral service was held on Friday, September 18th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Carpenter-Porter Funeral Home (1100 E Main St, Cherryville, NC 28021). The military honors was held on Friday, September 18th 2026 at 6:00 PM at the same location.
