She was predeceased by: her parents, John Rigler and Thelma Rigler; her husband Marcus Helms; her son Jack Griffin; and her granddaughter Andrea Black.

She is survived by: her sons, Charles Griffin, Dan Griffin and Steve Griffin; her grandchildren, Corey Griffin, John Griffin, Lauren Griffin, Emily Gatewood (Grey), Tyler Griffin (Megan) and Ashlee Griffin (Wesley Nichols); her great grandchildren, Ivy, Gavin, Jennie and Perseus; and her sisters, Linda Whisnant (Terry), Susan Howe (late Harry) and Mary Tipton (Herb). She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
