She was predeceased by: her parents, Helen Ragan and Joseph Leroy Barnett; her husband Giles Detwiler Beal Jr.; her sister Bettie Barnett Lombard; her daughter Helen Beal Montague; and her granddaughter Helen Ragan Kirksey.
She is survived by: her children, Giles Detwiler Beal III (Jennifer) of Gastonia and Lee Beal Kirksey (Charles) of Charlotte; her grandchildren, Shelton Beal Kimble (Brian), Cathleen Beal Hipp (Thomas), Giles Detwiler Beal IV (Margaret), Elias Nissan Montague (Mary), Addison Street Montague (Caitlin), Parke Montague Vickers (Alex), Marshall Barnett Kirksey and Virginia Reid Kirksey; and her stepgrandchildren, Madison Henry (Brad), Brock Weston (Shannon) and Alexandra Davis (Paul). She is also survived by 12 great grandchildren, four loving nieces.
A celebration of life was held on Thursday, September 17th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the First Presbyterian Church of Gastonia (1621 E Garrison Blvd, Gastonia, NC 28054).
