He was predeceased by: his parents, Marvin Roy Short, Sr. and Evelyn Gurley Short; and his sister Mary Lee Peeler. He is survived by: his wife Sylvia Beaver Short of Concord; his children, Claire Short Younts (Jeffrey Richard Younts), Charles Bennett Younts and Taylor Haley Younts; his grandchildren, Charles Bennett Younts, Jr. and Minnie; his children, Samual Roy Younts of Gastonia and Elizabeth Evelyn Short of Gastonia; his grandchildren, Caroline Sylvia Tindall and Mitchell Lee Tindall of Gastonia; his children, Martha Short Hill (Luther Bennett Hill III), Roberto Arcé Hoyt, Luther Bennett Hill IV of Raleigh, Kathryn Short Thornton (Robert Neal Thornton), William Joseph Linthicum of Raleigh and Finnegan Neal Thornton of Denver, CO; and his siblings, Edith Sisk (Gerry) of Gastonia, Joyce Nolen of Gastonia and Don Short of Gastonia. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
