He is survived by: his wife Judith Allen Wells; his children, Allen (Jennifer Wells) of Raleigh, NC, Robin (Johnny Cherry) of Gastonia, NC and Jake (Lauren Wells) of Blythewood, SC; his brother Larry; his sisters-in-law, Ruby Wells of Gastonia, NC and Susan Allen Davis of Charlotte, NC; his grandchildren, Rose Scott (Stephen), Grace Hefner (Will), Caroline Wells, Parker Wells, Lillie Wells, Ethan Brunelli, Bella Brunelli and Hannah Smith (Dennis); and his great grandchildren, Oliver Hefner, Walter and Maci Scott. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
