We announce the death of Shirley Moore Read of Gastonia, North Carolina, who passed away on August 22, 2026, at the age of 92. Shirley will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her parents, William Moore and Mildred Moore (Hennemann); and her husband James Lamar Read. She is survived by: her children, Grace Dytrt (Michael), Rebecca Read, James Read (Noie) and Ruthanne Glover (Joel); and her grandchildren, Laura Clark (Timothy), James Dytrt, Brian Glover and Eric Glover.
