He is survived by: his wife Judy Barnes Dunlap; his children, Elizabeth Faires (Robert Faires), Jesse-Lee Dunlap, Lauren Dunlap and Thomas Dunlap, IV; and his grandchildren, Alex, Walt and Elise Faires. He is also survived by friends comprising his chosen family.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 24th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the First United Methodist Church of Gastonia (190 E Franklin Blvd, Gastonia, NC 28052). Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 24th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM at the same location.
