He was loved and cherished by many people including: his daughter Neely Shane Smith; his father-in-law Wesley Styers; his son-in-law Jeff Selph; his parents, Thurman O'Neal Smith and Senior; his wife Sandra; his children, Johnathan Smith (Kasey), Chris Smith (Laura) and Kristen Neil Smith; his grandchildren, Mason, Gavin, Neely, Brennan, Kinleigh, Skyler, Drew, Chase, Jayden, Addy, Cason, Freedom and Forest; his mother-in-law Helen Styers; his sister Karen; his brother-in-law Allen McCuen; his brothers, Jake (Anna Ferguson) and Mike (Sheila Ferguson); and his siblings-in-law, Ron, Lynne Nester, Jerry, Blair Smith, Alec and Dove Long. He was also cherished by his family, friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials go to Bradley Church.
