He was predeceased by: his parents, William Henry and Annie Belle Smith Chastain; his son Ricky E. Chastain; and his siblings, Jack, Jerry Chastain and Gertude C. Sanders.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara Jean Johnson Chastain; his daughters, Cindy C. Miller (Rush) of Cramerton and Jill R. Chastain of Gastonia; his sister Teresa Chastain Crawford of Summerville, S. C.; and his grandsons, Travis George, Wesley George and Hunter Miller. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren.
