He was loved and cherished by many people including : his parents, Holtman Coston Rountree and Mary Anne Gray Johns; his wife Barbara Bundy Rountree; his children, Melissa Howell (Matthew) of Murfreesboro, William Rountree (Minela) of Jacksonville, FL, Heather Rountree of Corapeake, Crystal Rountree of Corapeake, Holly Davis (Eric) of Corapeake and Jonathan Rountree of Corapeake; his stepsiblings, Sharon Brown of Suffolk, Wanda Carothers of Portsmouth, VA, Kathryn Rocha of Hampton, VA and Bill Johns, Jr. of Surry, VA; and his grandchildren, Jasmine, Skylar, Marshall, Meli, Charlotte, Caroline and Blake. He was also cherished by many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his memory may be made to any chapter of the American Heart Association.
