He was predeceased by : his parents, Merritt Jr. "Bob" Peele and Sue Catherine Stanton Peele; his son Richard L. Peele Jr.; his sister Cathy Odom; and his brother-in-law Billy Davis.

He is survived by : his wife Marie Meggs Peele; his sisters, Bobbie Sue Davis of Bennettsville, SC, Diane Conyers (Charles) of Lexington, SC and Carolyn Paul (Petie) of Gibson, NC; his grandson Dustin Hayes (Tesia); and his great grandchildren, Cooper, Rhett and Axel. He is also survived by family members and friends.
