He was predeceased by : his parents, Roy Ambros Welch and Mintie Whitesell Welch; his wife Betty Hannah Welch; and his siblings, Aleene Abee, Louise Somers, Margaret Hicks, Shirley Gilliam, Winford Welch, Arthur Welch and William P. Welch.

He is survived by : his children, Carla Welch Massey (Jimmy) of Gibsonville, Janine Welch Kreider of Darien, Georgia, Lisa Welch Price (Mark) of Jacksonville and Simon Mashauri; his grandchildren, Jennifer Mattice (Danny), Sarah Tucker (Gary), Christina Turlington (Daryl), Kayla Byrd (Justin), Taylor McKinley (Raymond) and Joshua Kreider; his great grandchildren, Lucas Mattice, Grayson Tucker and Hadley Tucker; and his sister Jean Andrews of Graham.

Visitation was held on Saturday, May 25th 2024 from 9:45 AM to 10:45 AM at the Christian Bible Fellowship (1290 Springwood Church Rd, Gibsonville, NC 27249). A funeral service was held on Saturday, May 25th 2024 from 11:00 AM to 11:45 AM at the same location. A graveside service was held on Saturday, May 25th 2024 from 12:15 PM to 12:30 PM at the Pine Hill Cemetery (1200 S Main St, Burlington, NC 27215).
