He was predeceased by: his parents, Luther Van Brown and Lula Kate Jones Brown; his wife Geraldine Busick Brown; his daughter Susan Church; his grandchildren, Luther John "Luke" Brown and Tonya Church; his stepson Norman Shelton; and his siblings, Howard Brown, Van Brown, Violet Brown, Edna Michael and Jackie Barker.
He is survived by: his children, Billie Jo Allen (Kenneth), Tina Chrismon, Barry Brown (Connie) and Garry Brown (Janet); and his grandchildren, Brandon Allen, Michael Allen, Ryan Church, Shea Chrismon, Olivia Shreve, Jessica Butcher, Dawn Apple and Sierra Shelton. He is also survived by ten great-grandchildren.
